In wet and rainy weather conditions, your car’s chassis is most vulnerable to damage from rainwater and rust. Most car owners either have little knowledge about car chassis protection or are confused about how to choose a chassis armor installation shop and judge the quality of the service—this has become a common problem that most car owners need to solve.
Chassis Armor: Key Factors Lie in Construction, Materials, and Technology
Currently, common chassis plastic treatments use a single type of flexible resin material or asphalt. However, 3M professional chassis armor materials consist of four products with different properties. They adopt a multi-layer spraying process to achieve multiple protection functions, including high adhesion, high wear resistance, erosion resistance (high elasticity), rust and corrosion prevention, and noise reduction.
Construction of Chassis Armor: A Meticulous Process
When applying chassis armor to a new car, the following steps must be strictly followed:
First, prepare the chassis: clean off mud, rust, and oil stains.
Dry the chassis with compressed air.
Cover specific parts of the vehicle body, including shaded areas, exhaust pipes, shock absorbers, brake drums, braking systems, fuel tank pipelines, the bottom of the engine, detachable bolts, and the four-wheel rear axle bolts.
Start spraying: At the most critical stage of spraying, the distance between the spray gun nozzle and the chassis surface should be maintained at approximately 25 cm. Move the spray gun at a slow and steady speed to ensure the coating is even.
According to the process requirements, continuously spray materials with high absorption, high strength, and high wear resistance. The entire chassis armor requires 4 to 12 sprays, with a drying interval of 15 to 30 minutes between each spray.
After spraying is completed, the next step is to remove the protective covers and restore the vehicle to its original state.
Once the chassis armor is fully applied, it can improve driving safety and comfort, and maximize the integrated functional benefits of the car and the armor materials.
